Wellsite Reclamation Certificate Application Process

Wellsites and Associated Facilities

The 2010 Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities are divided into separate documents by land use: Cultivated Lands, Forested Lands, Native Grasslands and Peatlands. The criteria provide a flexible approach that reduces assessment requirements for simple sites. A greater level of effort is required for more complex or difficult sites. Compared to previous criteria, the 2010 criteria place greater emphasis on assessing crop productivity on cultivated land and re-establishing native ecosystems on forest, grassland and peatland sites.

Sites assessed on or after January 1, 2011, on cultivated lands, forested lands and native grasslands must be assessed using the 2010 Reclamation Criteria.

After April 15, 2016, peatland sites must be assessed using the Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities for Peatlands.
